Open Book Creative Writing
Delivered in partnership with Open Book Reading, we’ll be reading stories and poems aloud and using them to create our own writing in a gentle, guided session with Lead Reader, Jess Orr.
No experience required! Just a willingness to have a go in a safe and affirmative setting.
First time? Find out what to expect from a session on this guide.
Important information about our October session – PLEASE READ
Our group is part of Open Book’s Scotland-wide community programme of shared reading and creative writing sessions. To help showcase the work Open Book does and encourage new members to come along, we have invited a local photographer and videographer to attend our session in October to take some footage of the group in action and record short video testimonies with those who are willing to talk about their experience of being part of this group. Footage captured will be used by Open Book and LGBT Health & Wellbeing on their website and across online platforms, and may occasionally feature in print media. Taking part is entirely optional and permission forms will be available on the night, but it would be useful for us to know at this point if this is something you might be happy to participate in.
The event is for LGBTQ+ people aged 16+.
This includes lesbian, gay, bi, trans, non‑binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.
You’re also welcome if you’re exploring or don’t use labels.
Spaces are limited, so please register in advance via Eventbrite.
Each registration is for one person.
You’ll receive a confirmation email.
If you need help or can’t attend, contact Ness at ness@lgbthealth.org.uk or phone 0131 564 3970.
Please let us know if your plans change. You can cancel your space on Eventbrite or contact Ness.
PLEASE NOTE: Incomplete booking forms or repeat non-attendance will result in cancellation of your place.
