Language Café
LGBT+ Language Cafe brings together people from the LGBTQ+ community in the Greater Glasgow area who want to share and learn about languages and cultures.
Whether you’re local and looking to learn another language, or you’re new to Glasgow (or the UK) and would like to share your own language and culture, you’ll be very welcome – and we have tea and coffee too.
In the past, we’ve had people who speak Spanish, French, Basque, German, Persian, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Greek and Urdu, and our members always enjoy discussing language and picking up some new phrases.
LGBT+ Language Café meets 3rd Monday of every month (6-8pm).
You can email us at LGBTLanguage@lgbthealth.org.uk or phone LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s admin phone 0131 564 3970 and leave a message us. We volunteer in our own time so there might be a delay in getting back to you.
We are a community group led by community members with support from LGBT Health and Wellbeing.
This group is for LGBTQ+ people aged 16+.
This includes lesbian, gay, bi, trans, non‑binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.
You’re also welcome if you’re exploring or don’t use labels.
You don’t need to register in advance—just drop in when it suits you between 6pm and 8pm.
The event is hosted at LGBT Health and Wellbeing in the Adelphi Centre.
The venue and our event features:
Wheelchair accessible with level access
️ Free parking and drop-off area at the front of building
Accessible gender neutral toilets
Please be aware the venue is not fully wheelchair accessible. There is level access throughout the building, but there are no electronic or touch pad operated doors (staff will be there to let you in). Likewise the accessible WCs are behind sliding doors. These issues have been fed back to the Adelphi Centre and we hope they will be improved for all of our community members in mind.
All LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s groups are delivered under a safer spaces commitment that we ask everyone to follow (this includes attendees, our staff and volunteers).
Read our guidelines and commitment before joining an event.
