Consultation Analysis on Ending Conversion Practices in Scotland
Today, the Scottish Government published the analysis of responses to the Ending Conversion Practices in Scotland consultation, which ran from January to April 2024.
In our response, we strongly supported a law that bans all forms of conversion practices. These practices are deeply harmful and violate fundamental human rights. They can cause long-term emotional and psychological damage and have no place in a Scotland that values dignity, equality, and freedom.
We acknowledge that some of the responses published today contain upsetting and harmful mistruths about our communities, our identities, and our right to live safely and free from abuse. For many, reading the Consultation Analysis may be distressing, and we encourage you to prioritise your wellbeing. Please know that it’s OK not to read or engage with the analysis.
If you are affected by the consultation analysis or the media coverage about it, please know that support is available. Our helpline is here for you. Our team is trained to offer confidential, compassionate, and non-judgmental support.
