A Stimprovisation (sense and movement) workshop for LGBTQ+ people (16+) in Glasgow

Join us for a Stimprovisation workshop with Dr Aby Watson.

Stimprovisation is stimming improvisation, a playful practice of sensory-seeking instant composition. Discovered and coined during Dr Aby Watson’s artistic research and developed for neurodivergent people, stimprovisation is about ‘unmasking’ and feeling freer.

In a Relaxed environment, neuroqueer choreographer Aby Watson will gently lead us through ways of stimprovising:

  • Movement (Stimdance)
  • Objects (Stimplements)
  • Voice (Sensinging)

For this workshop with LGBT Health and Wellbeing, we’ll focus on Stimplements: exploring sensory experiencing through objects. This workshop offers a practical introduction to stimprovising. You do not need performance experience to join us, only a willingness to play and explore! Come wearing clothes suitable for movement. All are welcome – you do not have to identify as neurodivergent to join.

Access Notes:

This workshop takes place in a Relaxed environment. This means:

  • Movement, sounding, stimming is all welcome throughout
  • You can leave and return as much as you like
  • There is a separate Quiet space to the main workshop space
  • Everything is an invitation, not a demand
  • An understanding that focus/attention looks different for different people
  • Light and sound are considered for sensory sensitivity
  • There will be breaks
  • Stimplements (stimming objects) will be available
  • Ear plugs will be available
