We’re inviting LGBTQ+ community members to come together and respond to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC)’s consultation on its draft Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations. The consultation on the EHRC’s forthcoming Code of Practice follows the recent Supreme Court’s judgment in the case For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers. Come by for a cuppa, something sweet, and a chance to take collective action in a supportive space.

As we highlighted in this statement, the consultation’s content focuses largely on ways to exclude trans people from single-sex services and spaces. We know this is deeply upsetting and distressing for many in our community. We also know that not everyone will want to—or be able to—respond, and that is absolutely okay.

This drop-in is for those who do want to respond and may need a bit of support—from staff or from each other—to do so.

We’ll have:

  • A couple of laptops available for use (please feel free to bring your own device)
  • Printed guidance from our friends at Scottish Trans, Trans Actual, and Mermaids on how to respond to the consultation in the way that works best for you
  • Staff on hand to chat things through and offer support
