She has worked in the charity sector in Scotland for over 25 years and brings direct experience in running and managing small charities. She has worked in a variety of sectors, including disability, international development, and third sector capacity building, along with social enterprise and social investment. She is passionate about working with others to advance equality and create positive social change.

Andrew joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2025. He works on our Mental Wellbeing Project in Glasgow, providing 1-1 support and wellbeing activities. Andrew has worked in advocacy, youth work, mental health services and has been involved in LGBTQ+ community support since 2021. A person-centred approach is at the heart of the work Andrew does. Meeting people where they are at and supporting them to be who they are.

Rebecca joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2022. She works to promote and improve the health, wellbeing and equality of LGBTQ+ people in Scotland, and highlights the specific barriers our communities face. With a postgraduate degree in Public Policy Research, Rebecca is committed to influencing equitable, socially just policy that upholds the human rights of all and those most marginalised. She brings experience from social policy research, humanitarian aid, and refugee and asylum seeker community development.

Sophie joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2024. She runs our Counselling Service in Edinburgh ensuring people get support in an LGBTQ+ affirming therapeutic space. She qualified in Pluralistic Counselling from Abertay University in 2015 and works from the belief that there’s no one size fits all approach, and that clients and counsellors collaborate to find what works best. Sophie has worked as a counsellor and manager in Edinburgh charities since 2017.

Sophie joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2021, after moving to Scotland from Aotearoa in New Zealand. They first started to work on our Mental Wellbeing Project delivering one-to-one support and wellbeing activities. They now run our Counselling Service in Glasgow ensuring people get support in an LGBTQ+ affirming therapeutic space. Their background is in homelessness support and LGBTQ+ advocacy, and they are passionate about coordinating accessible support for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community.

Ryan joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2021. He delivers our Lothian Transgender Support Programme supporting trans, non-binary, gender diverse people and anyone questioning or exploring their gender. Ryan also delivers events and liaises with our NHS partners and other trans organisations and community groups. He has been involved with us since 2015, accessing services and running a community group (Trans Masculine Scotland). He has a keen interest in the history (and future!) of liberation movements and community building.

Paul has extensive experience of providing administrative support to charities and currently also works part-time with Sense Scotland. Ness first joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2024 as Helpline Assistant, after being a volunteer on the helpline. They now provide administrative support to our Edinburgh team and are also building central coordination for all volunteers in the organisation. Originally from Belgium, Ness’s love of literature drew them to Edinburgh, where they fell in love with the city and its people. They are passionate about community building and inclusion, as well as helping people through mental health struggles.

Previously, they worked and volunteered in the Scottish third sector including at PHACE West, Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland, Waverley Care, and Girls Rock Glasgow. They offer friendly and informative one-to-one support, along with affirming, and often fun community-led events and workshops.

Louise joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2012. She oversees and maintains our finance function and prepares financial statements, reports for funders, our Board and our Annual Statutory Accounts. Louise qualified as an Accountant (ACCA) in 1996 and worked in the private sector for 13 years before having a career break to raise her family. In addition, Louise also provides Human Resources support to all members of staff.

Jean joined LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2016. She works on our Older People’s Project delivering one-to-one support and social events for older LGBTQ+ people across Scotland. Jean has worked within the LGBTQ+ community in Glasgow for over 20 years. She believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. She is passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ equality and empowering others to do the same in their own community.

They had previously volunteered and done sessional work on the helpline, as well as supporting our Trans Support Project and social events over the years. The helpline is staffed by a team of trained, non-judgemental volunteers and sessional staff which Dot is really pleased to be working with to deliver this vital service to our LGBTQ+ community.

Diane has a BSc in Holistic Health and an MSc in Community Education, both of which are the foundations of the work that she does. Supporting people to gain insight into attaining a positive holistic relationship with their health and wellbeing is Diane’s passion. Equality for all is what motivates Diane who has worked in both public health, education and third sector organisations.

Yorath is currently Head of Digital Capability and Talent in Scottish Government and leads the Digital profession development as well as initiatives responsible for building digital skills, capability and diversity across the public sector in Scotland. After 10 years in the finance sector, he joined the UK Civil Service in 2015 and has worked in a number of central government departments in Whitehall and beyond. He has experience in a range of HR roles from business partnering, strategic workforce development, and organisation design and development. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.

Jon graduated from St Andrews with a degree in Mathematics and went on to train as an accountant with the international accountancy firm PwC. After 10 years with PwC, Jon joined the Clydesdale Bank. Since then, Jon has held a number of senior Finance roles in the commercial and third sector. Jon has also been a Trustee and Officer of a number of local and national charities. Jon sits on the Audit, Finance and Funding sub committee of the Board.

Daniel qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 with PwC where he worked for 6 years as an auditor. He has held a number of senior positions in financial service companies, specialising in investment management operations. Daniel has a keen interest in and experience of: operations, audit (internal and external), risk, finance, project management, financial controls and strategy. He has taken an active part in equality groups at the companies he has worked for, in particular the push to gain fair LGBT+ representation in senior roles at financial service companies.

Zy is a PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow. Their primary area of research is LGBT+ psychology, with a specific focus on LGBT+ inclusion and well-being. They are currently one of the University of Glasgow Future World Changers, the PsyPAG representative for the British Psychological Society Psychology of Sexualities Section, and Book Review Editor for the Psychology of Sexualities Review. Outside of academia, Zy has been selected as one of the See Me Proud LGBT Community Champions and has co-founded the LGBTQI+ basketball group, the Rainbow Glasgaroos. Zy is bringing in their experience in psychology to help address issues related to anti-LGBT+ prejudice, stigma, and discrimination. Zy’s work in improving LGBT+ inclusion in higher education can contribute to developing policies and programmes that promote diversity, inclusion, and well-being across the LGBT+ community.

Nick graduated from Edinburgh University before moving to London and becoming a secondary school teacher in some of the most challenging schools in the UK. He completed a Masters in Leadership at UCL and entered the charity sector, becoming the regional director for a large teacher training charity. He was also an elected councillor for the borough of Islington. After nearly 10 years in London he returned to Edinburgh and is now the Director of the National Autistic Society Scotland. He is a keen history geek and runner and is a member of the LGBT+ running club Frontrunners.
